Project Overview:

Verano de Oro marked the debut of Lingo Apparel—my first full apparel collection as a designer and creative director. Designed as a tribute to cultural legacy and summertime expression, the collection merges Latin roots with a modern streetwear lens. Every piece was created to empower identity and celebrate the richness of belonging, all under the glow of a “golden summer.”

“A celebration of Latin identity, golden legacy, and natural beauty
through contemporary streetwear.”

Context & Inspiration / Background:

This collection was deeply inspired by the textures, landscapes, and spiritual elements of Mexico—from its golden deserts to indigenous crafts. The hand-illustrated style references linocut printmaking and indigenous textiles, while the organic imperfections within each graphic reflect the raw beauty of cultural memory and handmade artistry.

The phrase Verano de Oro ("Golden Summer") symbolizes both light and legacy—a time to shine and a return to one’s roots.

Visual Identity & Graphics:

The collection features hand-drawn graphics that emphasize texture, character, and symbolism. Each illustration was intentionally imperfect, nodding to traditional printmaking and artisan methods. Visuals include:

  • Iconography drawn from native wildlife and Mexican landscape.

  • Line-based, earthy illustrations referencing Mexican embroidery patterns and textile iconography.

  • Raw, textured brushwork to reinforce authenticity and cultural soul

Typography and layout elements were also kept loose and intuitive, with minimal digital polishing to retain a handmade spirit.

“Let your culture be your compass, your legacy the light—walk boldly in the heat of your roots.

Technical Execution:

  • Vectorized all hand-drawn illustrations for scalable screen printing

  • Prepped production-ready artwork, separating color layers and setting up screen orders

  • Used textured brushes and halftone patterns to simulate linocut visual styles

  • Created spec layouts and mockups to ensure consistent print scaling and visual impact across different apparel types

Moodboard & Trend Direction:

The trend direction leaned heavily into earthy warmth, handcrafted imperfection, and 70s-inspired sun aesthetics. The moodboard combined:

  • Mexican desert landscapes

  • Indigenous textiles and weavings

  • Vintage graphic tee references

  • Natural elements like clay, stone, and sunlight

The palette ranged from muted ochres and soft sand to sun-washed browns, channeling the physical heat and spiritual warmth of summer.

Lookbook & Creative Direction:

Shot in golden-hour light and natural landscapes, the lookbook for Verano de Oro emphasized warmth, strength, and movement. Models were styled in relaxed silhouettes and posed in open spaces, evoking a connection to earth and cultural origin. Photography was raw and unfiltered—aligned with the collection’s emphasis on realness, texture, and sun-kissed storytelling.
